STARBASE Nebraska

FIVE 5 HOUR MODULES

STARBASE Nebraska has a mandatory core curriculum which consists of five 5-hour modules, providing 25 hours of content instruction for students. Classes are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tours will be incorporated into the modules. STARBASE Nebraska will conduct 28 STARBASE classes during the program fiscal year.

The 13 mandatory core curriculum areas include:

  • Development and use of technology
  • Substance abuse prevention
  • Property of States of Matter
  • Newton's Law of Motion
  • Bernoulli's Principle
  • Four forces of flight
  • Flight simulation
  • Properties of air
  • Space exploration
  • Aircraft control
  • Model rocketry
  • Goal setting
  • Teamwork

Additional STARBASE Nebraska areas of classroom instruction may include:

  • Math - logic, graphics, computer science and navigation.
  • Earth Science - archeology, environmental studies and anthropology.
  • Physical Science - physics, aeronautics and chemistry.
  • Life Sciences - biology, nutrition, hydroponics and substance abuse.
  • Social Sciences - team building, goal setting, self-esteem and citizenship.

Other Applications of Technology - forensics, robotics, engineering, and applications of technology as approved by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs (OASD-RA).
