STARBASE NEBRASKA STAFF
Director: Sherry “Boomer” Pawelko. Sherry has both a B.S. and M.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has over 15 years experience in directing Community and Youth Development programs. Prior to coming to STARBASE, Sherry was Director of Lincoln Community Learning Centers at Huntington and Riley Elementary Schools. Both CLCs focused on Science, Math, and Technology.
Deputy Director: Justin “Sting” Ray. Justin earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from UNL. Prior to coming to STARBASE Nebraska Justin was a Science Teacher with the Lincoln Public Schools. “Sting” has been a part of our staff since 2003, first as an instructor, and now as Deputy Director/Instructor.
Program Instructor: Rhonda “Riles” Riley. Rhonda has a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is in her 20th year of teaching, having previously taught at several elementary school grade levels. Rhonda has a special interest in the Science and Math instructional areas, and has been with STARBASE Nebraska for 2 years.
Office Manager: Kevin “Chief” Gemmell. Kevin recently retired from the Nebraska Air National Guard having achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He served 39 years in the Guard, and helped our STARBASE academy in many ways since the inception of our program. “Chief” is in his 2nd year as our Office Manager.
